Objectives: At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
-Understand the basics of the USDA Foods Program
-Calculate Diversion quantities
-Determine whether credits and/or rebates were received
-Calculate value of USDA Foods
Description: With shrinking budgets and higher food costs, fully utilizing the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Foods Program is becoming more important. This session will provide an in depth review of the USDA Foods Program, how to determine costs associated with the program, and how to effectively utilize the USDA Foods program. The session will also provide information about how to validate credits and rebates.

Speaker Bio:
Amy Bell has been in the field of nutrition for over 20 years and has spent the last 14 years with the California Department of Education, Nutrition Services Division, Food Distribution Program as a Child Nutrition Consultant providing support to food service directors throughout California. She graduated with a degree in Nutrition and Foodservice Management from California State University, Chico and is a Registered Dietitian.

Speaker Bio:
Jeanette Lund has been with the California Department of Education's Food Distribution Program (FDP) as a Processing Consultant for over one year, providing support to food service directors and national and state processors. Prior to working in the FDP, Jeanette worked in State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson's office. Jeanette has an extensive background in sales and contracts.
