Objectives: To successfully implement a supper program that provides another meal opportunity to students and provides fiscal benefits to the district meal program.

Description: The Child and Adult Care Food Program provides federal funds to serve meals to children and youth during after school hours, referred to as the At-Risk After School Meals Program. It is a new innovative way to provide meals to students and eligible community member. For the 2012-13 school year, the Los Angeles Unified School District implemented the After School Supper Program at 589 sites.

Serving 67,433 meals daily, generating over $12 million in revenues. This breakout session can teach you the regulations, why your program should participate, how to get started and what are the benefits.

Speaker Bio:
Dawn Soto is a Senior Cafeteria Training Specialist with the Los Angeles Unified School District and has been an active team member for 18 years. Prior to her present position, she has been a Cafeteria Training Specialist with LAUSD. She has developed training curriculum and provided trained for supervisors, managers, students, staff and parents for 16 years on all subjects pertaining to school food, food services, meal service, nutrition education and professional development courses.
