  3. Discover how the comprehensive nutrition education program works in California schools.

Description: Hungry for nutrition education in your schools? It is the position of CSNA that sequential, standards based nutrition education be incorporated into pre-k through 12th grade curricula. Research supports this, community stakeholders support this, the Institute of Medicine supports this, the Alliance for a Healthier Generation supports this, does your school district? Together we will examine the research on how nutrition education influences students' food choices and motivates them to eat a healthy diet. You will find out what the Dairy Council of California, the #1 provider of teacher-delivered nutrition curriculum in California schools, as well as the Alliance for a Healthier Generation is doing to support comprehensive nutrition education programs. Finally, you will hear from a classroom teacher on ways to gain teacher support for your district's nutrition education program.
