Objectives: In this interactive session, participants will take a deep dive into strategic planning amidst a pandemic. Staff from the No Kid Hungry Campaign will share information about resources, technical assistance, and granting opportunities during COVID-19. This breakout session will focus on childhood hunger and equity.
Description: Amidst the coronavirus pandemic, 1 in 4 children in the United States could face hunger this year because of the coronavirus. Participants will be introduced to tools and resources for feeding kids in this COVID-19 era, focusing on innovative back to school strategies. Additionally, participants will be exposed to data that supports the connection of COVID's economic impact and food insecurity as an equity issue. Participants will come away with the understanding that child nutrition programs address equity and adjusting these programs to fit your school environment can help students that experience food insecurity. Those adjustments can greatly improve school culture and ensure all students start on equal footing; therefore, maximizing their ability to take advantage of their education.
