Description: Beginning July 1, 2013, all School Food Authorities participating in the School Breakfast Program must implement the new breakfast meal pattern requirements for breakfast. Are you ready for this? The California Department of Education will present an overview of the new breakfast requirements so you can determine any changes you will need to make to your breakfast menus. The target audience is food service directors or nutrition specialists that plan the menus.

Speaker Bio:
Louise Casias graduated from California State University, Chico, with a Bachelors of Science in Dietetics and then entered the dietetic internship through Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas, Texas, to become a Registered Dietitian. She is currently working as a Nutrition Education Consultant for the California Department of Education, Nutrition Services Division. She previously worked in the Field Services Unit as a Child Nutrition Consultant for four years and as the Central Field Services Unit Regional Manager for 13 years. She also worked as a food service director for a skilled nursing and retirement home for 17 years and as a food and nutrition instructor for California State University, Chico, and various community colleges for 17 years.
