Objectives: Participant will be able to:
  1. State the benefits of CEP.
  2. Calculate if it is financially feasible and beneficial to implement the Community Eligibility Provision at their district.
  3. Learn a new idea to prevent loss of local control funding.
  4. Identify methods for implementation of an alternative income application


Description: Obtain an overview of the Community Eligibility Provision, including the benefits of the program, financially and nutritionally for the students. Learn how to calculate your ISP to determine whether this program is right for your district. Listen to the very best practice from an early adopter of CEP, and the innovative idea for an alternative application for the local control funding.

Daryl Hickey - Pomona USD
Speaker Bio:
Daryl Hickey is the Director of Pomona USD. Besides administering the federal meals programs for over 40 schools, Daryl promotes nutrition through various community outreach efforts. Daryl also works collaboratively with his colleagues at Pomona USD. They were successful in implementing CEP, without any local control funding losses. Come and hear about this success story and how it was obtained.

Speaker Bio:
Patrice creates connections as a communication consultant. Whether it is helping organizations connect with their audience to effectively communicate a message or helping city, county and school leaders find common ground to build a healthy community. Patrice has a background in public relations and marketing, along with expertise in strategy and partnership development, fundraising, nonprofit/program management, evaluation and working with local leaders. Patrice has also served as Media Relations for the American Cancer Society, Director of California Summer Meal Coalition.
