Objectives: Participants will be able to implement a creative, easy and economical marketing strategy to promote beans and bean based offerings, with resources for linking cafeteria to classroom.
Description: This session will share an innovative, easy and economical marketing plan for promoting "lean and green" beans on the school lunch menu. The clever strategy from Lean and Green Kids, an eco-food education organization, includes free, multi-cultural food-themed social studies classroom resources, which serve to promote a "Cool Bean" for each month of the school year. Teachers and School Nutrition professionals are giving the program high praise for helping to elevate and celebrate this nutritional powerhouse, that the United Nations has declared as the "earth-friendly superfood of the future!"

Speaker Bio:
Barbara Gates founded Lean and Green Kids in 2010, with the mission to bring healthier and earth-friendly plant-based meals into the mainstream. With a professional background in arts and entertainment, she is the creative force behind the organizations nutrition education programs and resources, which are currently reaching tens of thousands of students in grades K-12. She is the author of two children's picture books, Eating Lean and Green with Superfoods to Save the Planet and Jack and the Bean Stew.
