"California Thursdays - Developing a Statewide Network"

Session: Session F - Sunday, November 12th: 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. - 311/312

Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, attendees will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the potential for statewide and regional partnerships to serve freshly prepared meals utilizing California ingredients, and articulate strategies and resources for establishing such partnerships.

Description: The majority of the session will be anchored in our Innovator Sessions where attendees have the chance to gather in small breakout groups and learn from individuals who have brought a particular innovation or evolution to their food service program or industry. The panel of Innovators will be composed of: - 2 Food Service Directors from our California Thursdays Network 1 from a veteran district 1 from a new district - 1 industry professional working closely with our California Thursdays Network - Jonathan Foley - California Thursdays Network Coordinator Proposed Agenda: Total Duration - 60 Minutes: 1. California Thursdays Introduction (10 minutes): The session will begin with a brief presentation on the California Thursdays program and its core principles. Basic theories of systems change and the collective impact model will be introduced so that attendees develop an understanding of the strategies that have influenced our program design. 2. California Thursdays Innovator Introduction (5 minutes): A brief presentation to describe our California Thursdays Innovators, and their individual areas of expertise for which they have been recognized. 3.Innovator Session (40 minutes): 4 - 10-minute sessions allow attendees to rotate for a discussion with each innovator 4. Closing and Final Questions (5 minutes)

Speaker Bio:
Jonathan Foley, California Thursdays network coordinator, has been working with San Francisco Bay Area nonprofits for the past seven years, with a focus on school food systems. His passion lies in developing programming that allows students to understand and engage with the food systems around them, helping them to become informed and conscious stewards of our planet. This work stems from his well-rooted sense of wonderment with the outdoors, where you will likely find him if he is not in the office.
