Objectives: 1) Learn what trends will impact school nutrition programs.2) Discuss what changes districts are making as a result of the trends.3) Hear the 2017 Trends identified by the Dairy Council of California's Trends Task Force.
Description: You may not have a crystal ball, but you can forecast where to innovate based on trends. Come learn about the trends that can impact school nutrition programs and how schools are adjusting to meet the demands of today's trends. At this session the Dairy Council of California will share the 2017 Trends identified by their dedicated Trends Task Force who monitor the trends in nutrition, food service, education, policy and marketing.

Shannan Young - Dairy Council of California
Speaker Bio:
Shannan worked for 11 years at the school district level and six at the California Department of Education before joining the nutrition education team at Dairy Council of California as their Food Systems Program Director. She is a founding member of the Smarter Lunchrooms Movement of CA collaborative and the Co-chair for the California Local School Wellness Policy Collaborative. She is a registered dietitian and credentialed as a school nutrition specialist through School Nutrition Association and received her Bachelor of Science degree in community nutrition from University of California, Davis.
