Objectives: Procurement regulations are not clearly delineated as it relates to Child Nutrition Programs. Often times districts find themselves not following procurement rules properly which can put their programs at risk as procurement practices are undergoing increased scrutiny and will be a focal point of the new administrative review process.
The objective of the workshop is to provide participants background relating to procurement regulations governing Child Nutrition Programs.
Additionally, participants will be provided with real life scenarios, best practices and things to avoid.
Description: During these difficult economic times Child Nutrition programs are facing increased program costs to meet new meal pattern regulations, therefore strong procurement practices are even more critical in Child Nutrition programs. Come learn about the key procurement regulations governing Child Nutrition Programs and acquire valuable resources to assist you in strengthening your procurement practices and getting the most value for you money.

Harold Sullins - Fontana Unified School District
Speaker Bio:
Harold Sullins is the Director of Food Services for the Fontana Unified School District, where he has served for the last 5 years of career in Food and Nutrition spanning over 23 years. During that time Harold has gone on to receive a Bachelors of Science in Hospitality Management and Masters in Business Administration. Through his career, Harold has maintained a strong focus on procurement practices as part of an overall financial management strategy, fueled in large part by his experiences serving as Materials and Central Supply Manager for various hospitals and his work as a member of Food and Nutrition advisory committees for several Group Purchasing Organizations. During his tenure in Fontana, Harold has worked to reshape Food Service procurement within his district in order to achieve more efficient processes, while working towards clarifying Federal and State regulations governing procurement in Child Nutrition Programs to ensure consistent application. Most recently, Harold has worked in conjunction with San Jose State University Cal-Pro Net to provide financial management training through the Child Nutrition Program Administration and Financial Management I courses.

Gina focuses on selling equipment, Smallwares and supplies to k-12 schools. She is also in charge of public bids, central kitchens, new construction and replacement equipment purchasing experience. Gina works directly with school districts and distributors/dealers and food service consultants.
