Description: NutriBullet University (NBU) is a school-based nutrition program built around the principles of Piaget's and Kolb's experiential learning style to transform students' health and to empower them to become change agents for their families and communities. In our session, we will discuss how we utilized Kolb's theory concrete experiences, active experimentation, and reflective observations to enhance and to evolved nutrition education in the classroom that includes daily practice with a 90-day Blast (smoothie) bar. We will discuss how the application of the learning style theory translated into successes and challenges. In addition, we will review methods how we empowered our students to become change agents in their homes and communities with tools like recipes, articles, and blenders in creative Blast time with loved ones - a modern take on family dinners. We will utilize videos and polling methods to engage our audience and to demonstrate skills with our past NBU teachers.
