Description: This session will explore learner-centered education and training to help your staff connect with and retain the content of your trainings, as well as fulfill USDA Professional Standards requirements. We will take a close look at what it means for a training to be learner-centered, using the Focus on Food curriculum developed by the UC Davis Cal-Pro-NET Center as an example. We will highlight the unique advantages and challenges of learner-centered training, with a focus on increasing engagement and retention. In addition, we will go over some basic activities you can use to make your trainings more engaging, as well as resources provided by the Center for Nutrition in Schools.
