Description:In this class, you will learn what it means to be mindful, as a being state that is available every moment of our days. In addition, you'll learn why mindfulness is the master stress management skill and the beautiful results of living mindfully rather than mindlessly.

Michael Olpin, PhD
Speaker Bio:
Dr. Michael Olpin is a professor of health promotion at Weber State University and is director of the WSU Stress Relief Center. He earned his Ph.D. in Health Education from SIU, and his Master's and bachelor's degrees in Health Promotion and Psychology from BYU.

He has taught at six higher education institutions, including Southern Illinois University, Concord University, West Virginia University, Virginia Tech, and BYU. He has been teaching at Weber State for 21 years.

Among others, the classes he teaches include mind/body wellness, stress management, and wellness coaching.

Mike has presented many classes, seminars, and workshops on stress management and wellness at the national, regional, and community level. Dr. Olpin's teaching includes many health and wellness areas, but his primary focus remains on stress management, mind/body wellbeing, peak performance, mental and emotional wellness, and wellness coaching. He has presented papers and spoken at many conferences, workshops, and seminars around the country. Besides these speaking engagements, he also consults with companies and businesses, sports teams and athletes, individuals, and other community groups.

Mike recently finished the fifth edition of a textbook he authored on stress management titled Stress Management for Life: A research-based experiential approach. This text is being used by colleges and universities around the country and Canada.

Mike has published two additional books on stress management: His most recent best-selling book is titled "Unwind: 7 Principles for a Stress-Free Life," co-authored with Sam Bracken of the Franklin-Covey Corporation. His other book is titled The World is NOT a Stressful Place: Stress relief for everyone.

Most recently, based on his online academic courses and over 30 years of investigation, research, instruction, and coaching, he created an online education platform to help people everywhere manage their stress. Best of all, Mike has been happily married for 33 years and enjoys 4 amazing kids and two grandchildren. In his free time, you will find him biking and trail running in the beautiful mountains of northern Utah, where they currently reside.
